Warrenton Schools?

What the heck is happening in that school district? The board suddenly decides to throw out the Superintendent and Gannaway resigns over it? If it was a clear matter of lack of performance there should have been a track record to indicate that but people are not complaining. Brewington said that it had something to do with low test scores.

Maybe We Should Fire All of the Superintendents in the State

We had to give some reason for Mr. Brewington's dismissal, and test scores work well because they can always be improved. In recent years, Warrenton has been hanging around average compared to the rest of the state. I, like many, am not satisfied with average, but there are some justifiable reasons that our test score have not reflected the very positive and substantial structural changes that have been implemented under Mr. Brewington's leadership. #1) The state and federal government keep changing the goal posts. It is hard to keep up on our improvement plan if we are having to spend significant time just trying to keep the bureaucrats in Salem and D.C. happy. #2) Our culture is disintegrating at an ever accelerating rate. Families are falling apart faster than we can develop programs to address their needs. Sadly, today we are even serving homeless children. Traditionally, structure, discipline, and performance, were taught in the home. Schools were expected to support parents in this parental responsibility, not replace it. We have yet to discover the magic bullet (program)that will substitute for a child's loss of his/her family. That is why the rest of the state on average is not doing any better than we are in our Warrenton Schools. If average performance is the reason for Mr. Brewington's dismissal, perhaps we should fire all of the superintendent's in the state. We might have been well advised to to apply the time honored management principle in this case, and that is to identify the problem before we search for the solution.

Misguided attempt to solve a problem with a bigger problem

The school board has legitimate concerns but they are misguided in their attempt to fix the problem. The whole public school system is mired in rules, regs union control, State, Federal control and political correctness that will never excel to the standards we expect. It is not Mr. Brewington's fault, things could be better but nothing here is a firing offense.
I suggest checking the public record of the March meeting minutes being changed from an accurate quote used in multiple newspapers to a statement basically stating a conversation occurred. Highly unethical.
